What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)?

NLP is the study of how people think and do the things they do. Because people are complex, NLP offers a structured approach to simplify the complexity. NLP is a positive approach to help you create the results you want. It combines a multitude of simple and practical techniques with profound understanding of 'what works' in the human experience.

What does that name mean?

Neuro refers to how the neurology of the brain takes in information through the 5 primary senses and how the processing of that experience creates responses in the body. Linguistic is the language and non-verbal communication which codes this neural experience, and makes meaning through pictures, sounds, feelings, tastes and smells. Programming explains how your neurology has been programmed since birth, and how you can change it to be more compatible with what you want.

What you will discover, if you choose to work with a practitioner is that you will start achieving the things that you always wanted to do. Whether it be money, relationships, career, health or sports, NLP can and does create excellence in the area you choose to use it in.

What is an NLP session like?

Sessions will vary, depending on the approach of the practitioner, but the following is an example of a typical session.

Initially you and the practitioner will discuss briefly together the concept of a Personal Breakthrough session. Then you will meet and talk in a neutral environment for three purposes

For the Practitioner to assess whether the Personal Breakthrough session is appropriate
For the Practitioner to give you the pre-work
For you both to be clear what is involved and to choose whether to proceed.

This initial meeting takes up to 1 hour. Assuming both parties wish to proceed, a date for the session is agreed.

The initial 2-3 hour session involves the coach asking a series of questions. Two key questions asked at the start are

If you could have anything from the Personal Breakthrough session, what would it be?
How would you know, undeniably today, that you had it, or that your problem/issue had disappeared?

At the end of the questioning, the practitioner will be able to estimate how much more time will be required for the coaching. The practitioner and you will complete the Personal Breakthrough session either that day or continue within a few days. The Practitioner will work with you until you are clear that you have the result you want.

What are the benefits of NLP?

NLP can help you to achieve your goals, improve relationships and communication, control you own internal mental states, create powerful new internal states, align your internal resources for maximum enjoyment, and communicate quickly and effectively.

In short, you will find it easier to achieve your personal and professional goals, because you'll gain greater access to your internal resources as well as have more fun while doing it.
