What is Astrology?

Astrology has its origins in the beginning of time. The planets were initially used as measures of time in the same way as we use clocks today. As civilization evolved, the position of the planets and planetary cycles took on a deeper meaning. The planets were seen as representative of forces of energy inherent within the individual and within life itself.

From knowing your exact date, time and place of birth it is possible to draw your Horoscope. Your Horoscope, or as it is sometimes referred to Natal Chart is a map of the heavens at the moment of your birth and, at some level, connects you to the potential held within that moment of time.

The zodiac signs and the houses are a way of dividing up the solar system, based on your place and time of birth. The sign may be considered the field of action, the house, the place the action occurs and the planet, the motivating force.

The personal planets, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars relate to your personality, or personal consciousness. The outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto connect you to the collective or unconscious self and reflect where you are in the greater scheme of things.

The movements of the planets throughout your lifetime are known as transits. Transits refer to the events taking place in your life at any moment in time. Progressions relate to the inner journey, the person's inner frame of reference. They relate to how the feeling self deals with the events at any particular stage of personal growth.
